Initial Prep:
- Everyone together: Review Segments and check in.
- Studio Crew: Start setting up all equipment, including cameras, microphones, lighting, and platform in center of stage. Roll out Green screen onto floor.
- Lighting: Prioritize so Cameras can white balance. Set up lighting according to the show’s needs. Check for shadows and adjust levels.
- Technical Director: Power on the control room equipment (video switcher, graphics systems) and verify with Graphics Operator that graphics are showing up on program
- Camera Operators: White balance and focus all cameras, adjusting positions according to the blocking specified by the director
- Audio Engineer: Power on Audio board. Check that headset audio and music is working (work with studio assistants to help with this). Whoever doesn’t have a headset should have some way of sending audio to control room. Test audio levels with Director/Actor and make adjustments.
Rehearsal
- Director: Conduct a rehearsal. TD This rehearsal should cover blocking, camera angles, and segment timing.
- Floor Manager: Act as the on-floor coordinator, ensuring each crew member understands timing and pacing. Give final countdown once everyone is ready, and relaying messages from the control room.
- Graphics Operator: Review that text input is working and can be erased smoothly
- Technical Director: Practice switching between camera angles and graphics as per the director’s cues.
